- Home office heat
How much heat does your home office make?
Call us and describe it in your own words. We will tell you what we would check, and say so plainly if it is not our trade. Santa Clara and the area around it.
Extra heat in the room
775 Btu per hour- From equipment
- 110 W
- From people
- 400 Btu/h
- About the same as
- 2 × 100 W bulbs
Heat added, not a system size. Sun on the window, insulation and the room's size matter too — that's what a proper load calculation measures.
How it's worked out
One watt of electricity used in a room becomes 3.412 Btu per hour of heat. A seated adult doing light work gives off roughly 400 Btu per hour, part of it as moisture.
Extra heat ≈ (total watts × 3.412) + (people × 400)
What to do about it
- Check the room's supply and return — a closed door with no return starves it of air.
- Blinds or film on a west window cut afternoon gain.
- A small ductless unit can cool one room without over-cooling the rest of the house.
